Sheila Moroney, MPH, is patient experience officer & senior director, patient experience services for Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). At HCMC, Sheila has developed, implemented and led organizational strategy and change initiatives to improve the patient and family experience for highly diverse, inner-city, safety-net teaching hospital and clinic system. Through her leadership, the Employee Self -Care Initiative was established at HCMC to measurably reduce burnout and improve engagement and performance. Her passion for improving the health and happiness for employees and patients and their families stems from her 25-year career in the non-profit healthcare sector, including urban teaching hospitals, inner-city community health center, and university-based health policy institute. Sheila's research and analysis focus areas have included: patient-and family-centered care, consumer-driven healthcare, measurement and reporting, healthcare IT, healthcare cost drivers, emergency room and inpatient flow, tobacco control, asthma education, childhood lead poisoning, community-based health education, and Medicare policy.
